that is promoted today. Think 90’s funky Chicago grooves, pulsing Detroit
Rhythms, deep New Jersey bass lines and you will be in the ballpark. The 5 tracks
have been dug deep from the archive master vault of UK producer Nail.
Long in the game, or dare we say, veteran producer and DJ, Neil ‘Nail’ Tolliday who has
released timeless House cuts on his own 89:GHOST, as well as Shabby Doll, Robsoul and Steve O'Sullivan's Mosaic label, and as part of the cult UK Soundsystem,
DiY, has signed to Phil Coopers Through God’s Own Eyes imprint, the rowdier, wide-eyed,
semi-rave, laser-loving label to the more eclectic and Balearic-inspired NuNorthern Soul.
From a young age ‘Tolliday' developed his musical talents not from going to clubs, but from
working in Selectadisc, sadly now closed, a record shop in Nottingham, UK and Pirate
Radio. He quickly fell massively for Hip-Hop, and soon began to explore other genres such
as Jazz and old soundtracks. Later on, he even dabbled in fame, fame, fatal fame as part of
the now 'resting' downbeat duo BENT. Also while working in Selectadisc his mind was
being expanded by labels such as Djax-Up-Beats, Peacefrog, Plus 8, UR, Axis, Dance
Mania, plus Relief Records, to quote Nail “Working in a record shop you need to know
what's going on in more than one area of music.”
With such a diverse background his eclectic musical journey has shaped him into the artist
he is today.
