Five years is a long time for any industry. But, in dance music, things move so fast; 2018 feels like another lifetime! Some songs from that year have stood the test of time and still go off (Fisher's "Losing it", Four Tet's remix of "Opal", DJ Koze's "Pick Up"); others less so. It was also the year Glasgow Underground had its first big #1, and plenty of memorable GU tunes from then still work for us today. Why all this nostalgia, you may wonder? 2018 was also the last year Jewel Kid had some music out. Back then, he released on hot-as-hell labels like Suara, Tronic and his own Alleanza imprint. Alleanza was also home to some incredible music from Loco and Jam and the undeniably brilliant Enrico Sanguiliano remix of "Can You Hear Me" by DJ Boris. Since then, Jewel Kid has been taking a break from house music. However, a visit to Printworks at the end of 2022 lit that fire in his belly again, and he is back with a series of collaborations with A-list artists and singles on labels we love. Sadly, we cannot divulge any of those details. However, we can say that his comeback single, "Sensitive Shit", is a low-slung tech house roller fit for hot'n'sweaty underground groove boxes.
