Blur Records returns to present the prolific jazz-oriented DJ and Producer Selva, who delivers a remarkable 4-track track EP entitled "Trópico", including remixes by Mexican artist Hotmood and the Minneapolis-based producer Jeff Swiff.
The opening track entitled "Horacescope" is a superbly well-executed jazz-based composition, with crips rich sample-based drums which combine elegant rhythmic chord progressions with a lofi vocal and a general old-school vibe.
Following up is "Casa Calypso", a lofi-based house track that can be characterized by its wonderful double bass sub, distinctive chimes and dramatic chord stabs, in what is a track of complex and refined detail.
The third track "Trópico" is a seductive and soporific composition, featuring a driving beat with a floating grinding sub and stripped-back percussion, turning it into the lead track in our latest release.
Next, we have "Astro Shuffle (Captain Donnie's Transmission)", a heavily experimental percussive and intoxicatingly intricate track. Warm and smooth, with a futuristic beat of minimalistic lofi, subtle Rhodes and piano based-samples, making it one of the label's favourites.
The first remix is by none other than the talented Mexican DJ and producer Hotmood, who delivers a wonderful disco rendition of "Trópico", with its repetitious vocal, double bass and intense breakdown.
The last track is the remix of the Minneapolis-based producer Jeff Swiff, who drops a brilliant reinterpretation of "Trópico", with its re-worked drums soaked in organic and vintage synths, developing his own unique twist and delivering a dancefloor-oriented bomb.
