I Might Be Leavin' U

DJ Pierre, Lavette

Movin' Records
MR012D | 1991-01-25
During the mid-80s and early 90s Movin’ Records defined the New Jersey sound. A skate-shop-turned-record-store run by the so-called “fairy godmother of house” Abigail Adams, Movin’s first output was ‘I’ve Got The Music’ by Boyd Jarvis in 1987, followed by music from game changers Blaze, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries and Smack; straight up “Jersey jams” that producers are still attempting to replicate to this day. Still the Movin’ Records catalogue throws up gems that sound super fresh along with plenty of light bulb moments of musical discovery.

The soulful sound of New Jersey from the Chicago acid housemaster DJ Pierre!
Shortly after moving from Chi-town to New York, Pierre delivered this timeless track with uplifting strings, a bumping club groove and a sweet vocal from regular collaborator LaVette. This song was one of the early house tracks that heralded the return of disco and Philly vibes to the dancefloor and was an instant Movin’ Records classic.
